Great Barrington

Friday night, still full from Thanksgiving, I caught a red-eye to Albany and drove to Great Barrington, MA. I spent the weekend exploring Bard College at Simon’s Rock with my genius of a sister. It was exactly as charming as I’d always hoped a small liberal arts school on the east coast to be. The landscape conjured the inspiration of poets + a life lived buried in books. I loved it, and love that she’s there learning every bit.

Wren - Oh wow I only went to college for 2 semesters and it was in my hometown so I'm always slightly jealous and in awe of the away-at-school experience. Especially when it's in New England. I feel that i need to tell you - your photos are absolutely incredible. You just began following us (@monkeysaidbear) on Twitter and we are honored. In a world where almost everyone and their mom and their brother calls themselves a photographer, it's sometimes hard to fall in love with anything anymore. But you do it. I've been perusing your blog for a few months now and I'm always excited to see updates. And you make it look so effortless. Your pictures are just so down-to-earth and yet extraordinary in their daily-life-documenting simplicity. I tend to ramble and am not so savvy with adjectives so i'm just going to be quiet now. Anyways... just wanted to thank you for following us and come out from being an undercover blalker to being a public one. Please stop by our blog and leave a comment sometime. Perhaps we can do a feature on your photos soon if you don't mind. Wren http://www.monkeysaidbear.com/ p.s. The three of us have been huge fans of your husband's music for many years now. 'I Break Chairs' is my personal favorite. I'm glad knowing of him provided a way to "be introduced" to you. I also think we have a mutual friend in Ms. Rachel Briggs. p.s.s. I was very pleased to see the shot of the Makers Mark Bourbon. Being from Kentucky, it never ceases to make me proud to see our good works on display thousands of miles away :)December 10, 2009 - 12:24 pm
